Foil Radiant Barrier

Radiant Barriers is a reflective barrier material, like a heavy duty aluminum foil, that can reduce radiant heat transfer by up to 90%.  Green Renovations uses the most state-of-the-art product on the market. Tests conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy have shown that by adding a Radiant Barrier insulation to existing insulation in walls and attics is one of the most cost effective ways to reduce energy costs.  The Federal Government offers a tax incentive of 30% of the purchase price and the State of Texas offers rebates as well.  Our Energy Consultants can tell you if Radiant Barrier Insulation is right for your home and how much money you can save!

Blown-In Insulation

Blown-in insulation is made up of loose particles, which are blown into an attic or into the wall cavities.  Green Renovations can install blown-in Insulation for half the cost of what Lowes, Home Depot, and most other insulation contractors can.  You can receive local, state, and federal rebates and tax incentives.

All insulation is has an R-value, which is a measurement of materials thermal resistance. Insulation with a higher R-value provides more effective barriers against heat loss. R-values are based on the type of material used and the thickness of the material.  Older homes usually have an R- Value of 13 in the attic and usually don’t have any insulation in the walls.  It is recommended that all homes add at least approximatly 12 inches (R-30 total) to their existing insulation.  The Department of Energy recommends adding as much as 24 inches (R-60) to your attic and studies show that it will reduce energy consumption drastically.

Using blown insulation has many advantages. It is economical, and is much easier to install in hard-to-reach spaces.  Blown-in insulation is eco-friendly because it makes use of recycled materials.

Duct Sealing

The average home spends 10-30% more in energy due to leaking ducts.  Home AC ducts leak due to poor duct installation, low quality materials, and from incorrect sealing of duct joints. Most homeowners lose literally hundreds of dollars a year through home duct leaks that could be prevented with proper duct sealant services

Green Renovations will inspect your entire air duct system and will perform a duct leak test to determine the best possible energy saving solution.

Not only do you suffer wasted energy costs, but leaking home ducts can contribute to allergies and other types of respiratory problems. Leaking ducts in dusty and moist areas like attics can collect bad air and distribute it throughout your home.

Heating and Cooling

HVAC system use more energy than any other system in your home. Up to 40% of your utility bill goes towards heating and cooling.

HVAC stands for "Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning,” which is one system that controls all 3 of these functions. There are ENERGY STAR HVAC systems that are exceptionally more energy efficient than your old HVAC unit.  It is recommended that if your system is more than 10 years old then it may be time to upgrade your HVAC system.  By upgrading your HVAC system, adding insulation, proper weatherization, and by adding a programmable thermostat you be able to cut your energy bills by 50%.

Green Renovations can provide the most energy efficient HVAC system for the best price in town and will save you money!

Windows and Doors

Installing ENERGY STAR qualified windows and doors are more insulated and reduce the transfer of heat.  Double pane glass and Low "E" Glass are commonly used to block the high heats from entering your living space while blocking heat in during the winter.

Solar Screens

There are several applications the can help block the suns thermal heat, flare and UV rays from entering your space.  Green Renovations can apply a screen that mount directly over your window.  There are also reflective films that can be applied directly to the glass.  Ask us about the local energy rebates that you can take advantage of.

Spray Foam Insulation

There are many benefits in using spray foam insulation. Spray foam insulation is sprayed on to the wall cavities and the underside of the roof deck.  Foam is a better insulator than traditional insulation because it fills in all the air voids and cracks.  It is an advantage because it can adhere directly to the surface that it is applied to.  Another advantage to installing foam insulation is that it will increase the resale value of your home.

Weatherization

Green Renovations will visually inspect your home for any possible air leaks in your structures envelope.  Weather stripping is basically a seal that is applied to your doors and windows.  Caulking air gaps, penetrations, and joints near windows, doors, and exterior siding will create an air tight seal to your home.  A blower door test can be performed to pin-point the exact locations of where your home is leaking to the outside space.
